My daughter, affectionately called Doodle, was five years old when I started this blog. She was diagnosed as being developmentally delayed - somewhere on the Autism spectrum - when she was three and a half. After much research and a few mistakes, we have been gluten free and dairy free in our family for over 3 years now and this blog details our journey from autism to recovery through diet intervention. I'm not a gourmet cook or fancy blogger, just a mom sharing the story of the gifts autism has given my family and the remarkable resilience of my little girl.
I have to admit, I am an ice cream fiend. So, when we had to become dairy free, I looked in our grocer's freezer and found very little in the way of decent tasting dairy free ice cream. We purchased a Cuisinart two quart ice cream maker and have started on an adventure of making great dairy free ice cream and treats the whole family can enjoy.
